Swallowtail Butterfly

In my January workshop we had a play with this beautiful Stampin' Up! Swallowtail Stamp.
We did the Bleaching Technique and got some awesome results!

Firstly we stamped the butterfly with Versamark on to Tempting Turquoise Cardstock then heat embossed in black embossing powder.  Using an Aqua Painter filled with bleach we then bleached out all of the butterfly. In some areas I used more bleach than others to get a variant of shades.  I then coloured in using my Stamp Write Markers, Tempting Turquoise and Night of Navy, Marina Mist and then went over with the Wink of Stella Pens in both Clear and Gold.

Below is another card I made with the retired Stampin' Up! Enfrancais background stamped in versamark only.  This gives the watermark look which is quite a subtle effect.

I loved this butterfly so much!  I started having a look on Pinterest and saw a wall decor item by prettyimpact.com.  Their frame inspired me to create these two extra cards below.

Again I heat embossed the image in black to start with, then using sponge daubers I coloured in using Real Red, Pumpkin Pie and Daffodil Delight inks.
.Hope you have some fun with the Swallowtail

I thought I would share this Thank You card I made recently for my Nephew and his partner.  They wanted to thank the hospital staff for the wonderful care they received leading up to and including the birth of their beautiful daughter Scarlett.  Don't you just love the photo.  The baby's Mum has a sister-in-law who is a photographer in Whyalla, South Australia.  Rebecca Scharber Photography she does some amazing photos! Check out her Facebook page!

Although this card isn't all Stampin' Up! products, it is mostly, apart from the spotty paper.  It matched the colour scheme I was going for perfectly, so I couldn't go past it!

I have used the Stampin' Up! Botanical Builder Framelit Dies (Item 140625 $54.00) to make the flowers and then run them through my dotty Embossing Folder which is sadly retired now but still a favourite.  I was wondering how I was going to use the lovely big thank you and this was the perfect opportunity as the card is A4 size.  The stamp is from Another Thank You Item136835 $28.00AU a photopolymer stamp set.  I have heat embossed the sentiment using Melon Mambo embossing powder.  Whenever Stampin' Up! bring out any new colours in their embossing powders, I always buy them.  You just never know when that colour might be just what you need for a special project, like this one for me!
The clear photo frame is a Sale-a-bration item from the Project Life Memories In The Making Specialty Card Collection.  This item is FREE with a $90 purchase before postage.  There are some lovely pieces in this collection to be used for your photos or as I have here in card making projects too.

The Sale-a-bration promotion ends on 31st March 2016 so get your orders in quickly so you don't miss out!  Check out the full brochure by clicking on the image over on the right hand side of this page.

You can order online through my store, just click the Shop Now Button on this page, or, contact me and I can place the order for you.

Have a lovely long Easter weekend!

Hope you get time for some crafting   I have a big list of things to do but some card making is in there too.

Until next time!

Todays card:

There is a co-ordinating stamp set too which is awesome.   I've used our gold glimmer paper for this card.  The flower is from the Botanical Builder Framelits.

I have a few days off from work and so I'm loving play time with my new Sale-a-bration and Occasions goodies!

I love this stamp set called Butterfly Basics!  This first card was inspired and CASED from Tammi White.  Using the Gold Foil Sheets for the butterfly gives it a touch of elegance, I think.  Don't forget to use a dryer sheet and some grease proof or wax paper for easy release of the Butterfly Thinlits Dies.

If you love this set too, then buy the bundle and save 15%!  Item 139322 Wood $106.95AUD Item 139323 Clear $89.95 Item 138865 $71.95 Photopolymer.
I love Photopolymer, it is soooo easy to reposition the stamps if you need to at any time. Just remember when using the photopolymer stamps it is best to use your Pierce Mat for a smooth solid finish.  Item 126199 $8.95AUD

All my customers who place an order in February will receive one of these lovely Thank You cards.

I CASED both of these cards and changed them just a little to make them mine.  The second card by Brandy Cox.

A new Designer Series Paper Stack Called Adventure Bound Item 137780 $11.95 (11.4cm x 16.5cm) for some much needed Masculine cards.  At first I didn't think I liked it very much but after playing with some ideas I have changed my mind.  They are double sided sheets with a print photo on one side and on the other, more solid designs.  The happy is from Hello You Thinlits Item 137363 $42.95AUD The birthday sentiment is from the Crazy About You Stamp Set Item 137137 $42.95AUD which can be bundled with the Hello You Thinlits to save you 15%

Feel like strolling through the trees? Such a nice card for any man in your life.  The sentiment is from the Sale-a-bration set called Big Day.  A great set to have in your stash and it is free with any $90 purchase through to the end of March!  A few Candy Dots and a bit of colouring with our Stampin Markers to finish it off.

I used the Chevron Embossing Folder Item 127749for some texture in Cajun Craze and a few banners for something a little different.  A simple layered card but the result is quite ok.  Once again I have used the SAB Big Day sentiment.

Another simple card follows using a Woodgrain DSP print again from the Adventure Bound DSP Stack and the sentiment stamp is from Amazing Birthday Item 134225 Wood $49.95AUD or Item 134228AUD $25.95 Clear stamp set.

If you would like to purchase any of these products simply go to my Shop Now Button on the top right of this page, it will take you to my online store.

Please use Hostess Code Y7CC67WF if your order is less than $300, this will support my business, thank you.  If your order is $300 or more then all Hostess dollars are yours to spend.  Also if you spend $400 then you get an extra $40 just because it is Sale-a-bration time!

I'll be back soon with some more new products and projects to share and hopefully inspire you too!

Not butterflies again, I hear you say?
Well yes...

For this butterfly, I coloured glossy white card with Pink Pirouette Blendabilities, cut it out using the medium Butterfly Thinlit on my Big Shot and added it to a Something Borrowed Designer Series Paper  background (Item 137785 $18.95AUD) on Crumb Cake Card.  Then I coloured the large flower in the design with a Pink Pirouette Stampin' Marker.  Some Seam Binding Ribbon in the matching colour and a sentiment from Simply Wonderful, a Sale-a-bration freebie with any purchase of $90AUD.  I decorated the envelope with  Something Lacy matching background stamp Item 137155 Wood $30.95AUD and Clear Item 138900 $23.95AUD
The background stamp is quite large so I always choose wood mount as I think it is easier to work with.  A tip is to take your ink pad to the stamp when using very large stamps like this one.  To get the recessed part for the envelope I used a post it note on the envelope before I stamped the image.

Have a look at Stampin' Up's video on the Butterfly Thinlits Die and a new stamp set from the Occasions Catalogue called Butterfly Basics.

Another of the qualifying SAB Free Stamp Sets is the very versatile Big Day which I have used here. Bermuda Bay card layered with Birthday Bash Designer Series Paper some colouring using our Blendabilites - a quick and easy card to do.  Don't forget to stamp your envelopes!

Here I was inspired by the sample card on Page 13 of the Sale-a-bration catalogue so it is my version of it.

Happy stampin!

I CASED (copy and share everything) this card from Patty Bennett pattystamps.com
I made several of these for swaps at our Team Meet last Sunday.
The Lotus Blossom is a SAB item that can be earned free with a $90 order.  So pretty.
I didn't have any calypso coral ribbon so I coloured my White Organza Ribbon with the Calypso Coral Blendabilities and got the perfect match!  Love those Blendabilities.

Talking about Blendabilities there are new colours in the Occasions Catalogue.  Bermuda Bay item 133623, Pink Pirouette item 133625, Soft Sky item 133626 and Wild Wasabi 133624 all $20.95AUD for the set of three (light, medium and dark)

Don't you love the butterfly on this card?  New to the Occasions Catalogue are the Butterfly Thinlits item 137360 $42.95AUD.   Or, you can get the matching stamp set Butterfly Basics in a Bundle for Item 138813 Wood $82.95AUD or Clear, item 138816 $62.95AUD with a 15% saving!   If you look at my previous blog post today showing how to colour using the wonderful new Liquid Chalks on those butterfly cards  I have explained how to make a sandwich for your Big Shot so that they pop out cleanly every time.  This card was inspired by Jo Blackman joscraftyblog.blogspot.com  I just made some changes to make it my own.  I also used the Large Polka Dot Embossing Folder item 133739 $13.95AUD  I touched up the highlighted area on the flower with some Dazzling Diamonds Glitter item133751 $8.95AUD for a little extra pretty.

The back round on this card is made with Irresistably Yours DSP another free SAB item.  I used a water pen and inkpad to colour resist.  Very versatile papers you can leave plain white or colour any way you wish.

Have fun checking out all the lovely new products in these catalogues and let me know if I can help you with any orders.

Until next time

Happy stampin!

Color Box Liquid Chalks Tutorial

Color Box Liquid Chalks Tutorial

A different way to use Stampin Up’s new product from the new 2015 Occasions Catalogue.
The colours we have are Aquamarine, Rose Coral and Yellow Citrus.
I learnt this technique many years ago at a craft show in Melbourne.

Firstly and most importantly, this technique only works on glossy card.

Step 1.
I use sponges to apply the liquid chalks, but you can also use the chalk pads as you will see later in this tutorial.

Step 2.
Using a circular motion apply first chalk colour to glossy card.

Step 3.
Continue with the second colour and then any subsequent colours you want.

Step 4.
Cover the entire card.

A variation to this is to use the colour straight from pad to card stock.

The use of this direct application will give a different effect as shown.

Step 5.
This now needs to dry before the next step; I use my heat gun to speed up the process.

Step 6.
Polish it off with a soft cloth to restore the glossy surface (I use an old face washer)

Voila!  You have now created a new background for stamping or die cutting.

Now to Die Cut your Butterfly Thinlit
Make a sandwich using:

     1.     Magnetic Platform,
     2.     Cutting Plate
     3.     Grease Proof, Wax or Baking Paper
     4.     Dryer Sheet
     5.     Card stock
     6.     Grease proof, wax or baking
     paper (I use two layers)
     7.     Butterfly Die
     8.     Cutting Plate

Run it through your Big Shot and then simply
peel it off!

At our team meeting, we discussed the fact that the dryer sheets leave a residue on the cutting mats, so I have added a layer of wax paper under the dryer sheet to solve this problem.
